The dancing figure raised on a naturalistic integral base cast with a tambourine and oak branch, mid brown patination.
Signed Felix Charpentier and stamped E. COLIN & CIE PARIS
Charpentier studied under Cavelier at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and made his debut at the Salon in 1882. He was regarded as one of the most outstanding sculptors of his day and won many medals for his works. Particularly renowned for his expressive depictions of the female form, he produced many allegorical and genre groups, in bronze, marble and plaster.
